Consultation/Orientation
Program Consultation
This FREE 30-minute session will include a discussion of any physical or medical considerations including a suggested program emphasis. Also included with your consult is a short sequence of tests designed to make you aware of your current fitness status. This consultation is recommended for all first time participants but is available to all members.
Physical/ Medical Considerations
A brief discussion concerning your exercise and medical history will help to facilitate your exercise program.
Resting Blood Pressure & Pulse
Using standard measurement techniques these cardiovascular (CV) index markers are useful in quantifying your current (CV) fitness level.
Body Fat Assessment (bodyfat check)
Through the use of bioelectrical impedance analysis, we are able to estimate your percent body fat. Percent body fat is a valuable progress marker when monitoring your fitness related weight changes.
Target Heart Rate
Using a target heart rate formula, we are able to approximate your training heart rates for a recommended cardiovascular workload.
Equipment Orientation
A qualified fitness instructor will guide you through a standard circuit of exercises, while demonstrating the safe and effective fundamentals of proper training techniques. This session will require approximately one (1) hour and will need to be scheduled in advance. Follow-up appointments are also available.
Strength Equipment
During this portion of the orientation you will be instructed on proper body alignment, seat positioning and recommended weight for each piece of prescribed weight training equipment. These values will be logged on a personal workout card and filed for your convenience. Proper breathing, speed of movement and effective range-of-motion will also be addressed.
Cardiovascular Equipment
This segment of your orientation will also include operational guidelines for the prescribed cardiovascular pieces, i.e., bike, treadmill, stepper or any of the different variations. Workload adjustment, body mechanics and program variations will also be detailed.
